Explore your options
Zebra shades use alternating sheer and solid fabric bands to change the amount of light entering your room. Adjusting the alignment creates a more open view through the sheer bands or greater coverage when the solid bands overlap. Max Custom Blinds helps you compare fabrics, colors and operating options against your windows, so you can judge both the appearance and the light control before ordering.
When the sheer bands align, zebra shades admit filtered daylight and allow some visibility through the fabric. Adjusting the solid bands provides greater coverage, but privacy still depends on the fabric, alignment and lighting conditions.
Consider how the room is used after sunset as well as during the day. A fabric that feels private in bright daylight may perform differently when interior lights are on.
The horizontal bands create a distinctive appearance that changes as the shade is adjusted. Your Max Design Consultant brings samples to your home so you can compare that pattern with your window proportions, trim and furnishings.
For bedrooms or other rooms where darkness matters, discuss your expectations before choosing. Fabric opacity, alignment and light around the edges all affect the finished result. Available controls and motorization depend on the selected product.
Before you choose
The fabric layers move relative to one another, changing the alignment of the sheer and solid bands. The shade can also be raised to uncover the window. Available operating systems vary by product.
Privacy depends on the selected fabric, band alignment and indoor and outdoor lighting. Do not assume that every zebra-shade fabric provides the same coverage. Ask Max to help you evaluate the privacy needs of the room.
They may be suitable if their light control meets your needs. If strong room darkening is a priority, compare the selected zebra fabric and mounting arrangement with room-darkening roller or cellular shades before deciding.
Selected products offer motorized operation. Window dimensions, power options and compatible controls determine what is available. Max can help you plan the shade and operating system together.
